 Job Description:

The Regional Director manages Field Operations in Northern Alberta & NWT and is responsible for planning and implementing long-term and day-to-day community and regional work, responding to local/regional needs and differences, integrating key Association priorities. They enable staff and volunteers in the region to meet the mission and vision of the association, which includes fund development, financial management, program planning and human resources management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and implements the Region's multi year and annual operating plans and budgets. Engages in strategic planning and ensures high standards of service and programs delivery in the regions as well as meeting and exceeding fund development targets. Responsibilities include overseeing the Alberta Monitoring for Health Program.

Recruits, hires, orients, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of regional staff and volunteers in accordance with the Association's priorities and processes, programs and services. Ensure staff collaborates with lead Area resource people or the National Office. Ensures reports are provided as required to the Area and/or National Office.

Encourages regional staff to connect to others in the Area doing similar work, seeks their input and support in the implementation of Canadian Diabetes Association standard programs and "business processes" while encouraging their responsiveness to local and regional needs.

Is responsible for ensuring ongoing identification of volunteer positions and sound volunteer management processes in the Region. Ensures support to Branches and other Association volunteer groups.

Creates quality relationships externally and with people affected by diabetes. Relates to external individuals and organizations to motivate and help coordinate their support to the Association.

Manages financial operations in the region and leads revenue generating activities and ensuring fund development targets are met.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5+ years Management/Supervisory Experience, ideally with a mix of for profit and not-for-profit
Proven leadership and team management skills
Proven fund development and program management experience
Able to select, develop, and motivate people, and create a positive work environment
Excellent interpersonal, communications and consultative skills
Excellent problem solving and decision making ability
University/Post-Secondary Education in a relevant area (or equivalent)
Demonstrated knowledge of diversity and working with an anti oppression framework
